Christmas 2020
Dear parishioners,
As we bring our journey through the Advent season to its fulfillment, I wish to extend to you prayers and best wishes for a very Merry Christmas. May the joy of celebrating the Lord’s birth in Bethlehem bring peace and great hope to the world! We know well how the pandemic has been a factor in our lives throughout 2020, and now too, as we come upon Christmas this year. Efforts to remain safe certainly impact our celebration, but even as we observe the precautions that which we must, the story of our savior’s birth fills our minds and hearts in a way that is always ours to share. Our individual homes are especially this year those sacred spaces like the manger where we nestle in and feel the closeness to our heavenly Father, the Lord Jesus, and our family. As much as our Christmas gatherings this year are limited, the abundance of joy and the love of God flow forth for all to welcome as we open our lives to this great event. I share with you as well prayers and great longing for a very happy New Year, for peace in the world, for health and goodness among all people. I thank you for the blessings that you share with our parish family, and for all the ways you live your faith each day, as our eternal God comes to us in the mysteries before us. I am grateful for your prayers, and will cherish them especially throughout this entire season as we together ponder how our God, in his infinite love, has come to save his people.
Yours in the joy of our Savior’s birth,
Fr. James Teti
Enjoy the history, pictures, and music of a time-honored tradition from the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart.
Due to the present pandemic, the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart was not able to celebrate the traditional Candlelight Carol Sing.
However, Cathedral Director John Miller compiled videos and pictures of past Carol Sing events commemorating the 50th anniversary of this Archdiocesan celebration.
This moving video production by the Cathedral Basilica Concert Series is a treasure trove of music and images of previous Carol Sings. It also includes interviews by Miller with some of the musicians.
